What can I say about Black Belt camp? Well to begin with, I'd like to say that I cannot wait until next year. Year after year each camp seems to be getting better and better. Then I realized that its not necessarily the camp, but the people at the camp. Everybody needs to get away from the complex lives that we have created. Its almost regardless of age because if they are a child they are subjected to the demands of parents, school and social issues. Much like bosses, work and social issues.
So now we have this group of individuals from varying lifestyles and we throw them onto an island that has no power which means no A/C, no hot water (which was really quite welcome since it was HOT!) no refuge from the bugs and you had to hunt and kill your own peanut butter and jelly sandwich. For three days.
However, all of these people have a common interest and bond. They are all Martial Artists that have been training together for years. They have become a family of sorts. It is that bond which makes each camp better and better. Because we share different experiences at each camp. Whether it be wildlife experiences or the gaining of insight of the world around us, plus getting to know one another a little better.
My only wish is that everyone enjoyed the camp as much as I did. Hope to see you there next year.
Master Phil Peplinski
